Get to Know… Tina!
What is your role at Vovia?
I am a Media Manager. I plan and execute both traditional and digital media campaigns for Vovia’s clients.
How did you end up in Media Buying and Planning?
I went the roundabout way. I have a background in the Arts and found Media by chance. I was working in staging and event management as an assistant in a freelance capacity, it was 2011 and there weren’t many events happening in Toronto for a period post 9/11. I decided to go back to school and take Advertising at Sheridan College (that’s my plug, I now teach there).
The Advertising program there lies in the school of Business, not Art & Design, and once exposed to Media Research, I was hooked! I got my first contracted gig in the industry as a Research Analyst at phdCanada. Once that contract was up, I moved into the newly formed Digital team and the rest is history! My primary experience comes from the Automotive and Communications industries having worked on Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, TELUS and Shaw communications.
What do you like about Vovia?
I love the people! I am currently working remotely from Toronto, Ontario. I love the flexibility Vovia provides me with my teaching schedule and the opportunity to grow and learn within a new team in a new company. I can’t wait to visit the office and meet everyone face to face.
What do you do when you’re not working?
When I am not working for Vovia, you can find me playing with the wee one, marking assignments, and wrestling with my Boston Terrier. Not necessarily in that order.
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise people
I am a clothes horse, although you would never know it to look at me, I wear the same style of clothing throughout the week. Black jeans and a shirt is my standard go to uniform amongst my collection. I love to shop for one of a kind, handmade pieces as well as mine through thrift stores and salvage sales. This girl loves a good deal!
