Vovia Client Feature – Get to Know Qualico Communities

Vovia is fortunate enough to have fostered many long-lasting, collaborative, and fun client relationships over the years, with one such relationship being Qualico Communities Calgary. Over the past 3+ years, we have had the pleasure of supporting Qualico in promoting several up-and-coming communities in and around Calgary including Redstone, Ambleton, Crestmont View, Dawson’s Landing, Evanston, Ravenswood, Rivercrest, and most recently, the brand-new community of Painted Sky in Langdon. Together, we have worked hard to raise awareness for communities both new and mature, as well as drive leads to community builders in hopes of an eventual home sale. 

We recently caught up with Emily Smith, the Manager of Marketing & Customer Care at Qualico Communities Calgary to talk about her relationship with Vovia, discuss home sales in the COVID era, explore what’s ahead for Qualico, and much more.

Evan: The COVID-19 Pandemic obviously had a huge impact on businesses of all kinds. What were some of the main impacts, challenges, and even benefits of COVID on Qualico’s business throughout the pandemic?

Emily: The original contraction of sales was quite abrupt when Covid-19 hit, but they have quickly bounced back as individuals changed their behaviours with the pandemic. Because so many of our showhome locations across all communities closed or were by appointment only, we quickly adjusted with a live chat feature across all websites to answer questions from prospects. Like many other cities across Canada, we saw a huge uptick in interest in new communities and new homes throughout the second half of 2020, all of 2021, and we see it continuing so far in 2022.

Evan: Knowing what home buyers went through over the past 2 years, do you have any insights to share around what the market may look like in 2022?

Emily: The Calgary home market is extremely strong at the start of 2022, but we believe inventory will be an issue for both the resale and new home market in the months to come. Build time expectations will need to be reset with consumers too, as many suppliers continue to struggle with supply chain issues, as many other industries have due to pandemic-related issues.

Evan: Anything new and exciting on the horizon for Qualico in the coming months/years?

Emily: Qualico Communities is primed for a number of new communities in 2022. One that we are especially excited to launch is Painted Sky in Langdon. This community is located 20 minutes east of Calgary and features much larger lots than Calgary lots. It is great for families looking for a small-town experience. We also have other new communities launching in both SE and SW Calgary in late 2022, and are aiming to launch a new community Airdrie in 2023.

Evan: Tell us about the relationship between Qualico and Vovia.

Emily: I worked with Vovia at my previous organization and was happy to bring them into Qualico Communities Calgary when I joined the team in 2018. Evan, Rachel, Heather, and Susan are great innovators and are always introducing changes and evolution to paid digital media that brings us high visibility to our audience. They make launching new campaigns easy for our team.

Evan: If you had to describe Vovia in just one word, what would it be?

Emily: Consistent.
