Get to Know… Perry!

The Vovia internship program is back in full swing, this time welcoming our newest Account Coordinator, Perry Brierly to the team. Perry is working towards his marketing degree at the University of British Columbia Okanagan, and took on the difficult challenge of starting an internship remotely during a pandemic this spring. Despite the challenges of learning in a virtual workplace, he has been able to hit the ground running and is already helping to drive performance on numerous accounts. Read on to learn more about Perry’s role at Vovia, his experience here so far, his sporty hobbies, passion for sustainability, and more!

What is your role at Vovia?

As an Account Coordinator, my responsibilities include building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, ensuring that internal team responsibilities are managed and coordinated effectively, and providing our clients with successful campaign strategies and executions. Working closely with Account Managers and Directors, my goal as an Account Coordinator is to compile, coordinate, and organize key documents such as briefs, reports, estimates, and other internal documents.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, snowboarding, biking, or anything outside really. I was fortunate to grow up surrounded by mountains, which allowed me to spend almost every weekend either snowboarding in the winter or hiking in the summer. When I get the chance, I love getting out to the island as I like to surf as well.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise people.

Growing up, I did a mixture of both athletic and artistic activities. I played various individual and group sports like basketball, rugby, football, taekwondo, and competitive snowboarding. I’ve always had a passion for performing as well, so I took dance in high school and also was involved in music as a drummer.

Being involved in both artistic and athletic activities allowed me to become well-rounded and explore my various passions through multiple disciplines.

What do you love/what are you most passionate about?

Sustainability! I am extremely passionate about innovation and what we can do as individuals to foster change. My university classes have pushed me to think critically about my own footprint and the impact of our everyday actions. Upon graduation, I hope to play a key role in establishing sustainable business practices and use my voice to provide awareness about the climate crisis.

What is your favorite part about working at Vovia (so far)?

If I were going to describe what Vovia does best in one word, it would be growth. Vovia takes the time to fully understand client needs to produce the most efficient and effective strategies for success. As a team, we all grow in this process by providing our own insights coming from specialized backgrounds, which establishes new perspectives and ensures exceptional results. Not only is growth a priority for our clients, but the Vovian employees all lend a hand the professional development of one another. Starting an internship in a remote working environment can be difficult, but I know that the Vovian support network will always be there to help me strive for greatness.
