What is your role at Vovia?

I am a Media Buyer/Planner which means I work with clients, agency partners, media partners and the internal Vovia team to develop strategic media plans that focus on the business objectives, customer needs, media consumption and channel trends.

What do you do in your spare time?

I spend a lot of time swimming, biking and running in preparation for my next triathlon, so it doesn’t feel like a have a tonne of spare time. I started doing triathlons two years ago to satisfy my competitive side after many years of playing high level softball. I’m already registered for four races this summer with a couple of others on the horizon. When I’m not training for the next race, I love to rock climb, hike, and channel my inner 80-year-old by knitting, baking and drinking tea.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise people.

I’m a circus performer! Well, kind of. I’ve been training in aerial silks for the past two years but have only actually done one student performance. For anyone who isn’t familiar with it, aerial silks is a type of acrobatics that is performed on long sheets of fabric suspended from the ceiling. I’m finally fulfilling my dream of being an acrobat, although this is probably as close as I’ll get to Cirque du Soleil!

What do you love/what are you most passionate about?

I love to bake and especially love to decorate cakes. I’m always looking for an excuse to make family and friends cakes for birthdays and holidays. I’ve even volunteered to be a baker for Icing Smiles, a not for profit that provides birthday cakes to kids with terminal illnesses.

I also really love to travel and experience different cultures. I spent six months working in Colombia and living with a local family and it really opened my mind to embracing other cultures. I’ve done a decent amount of international travel in the past couple of years but still have quite a long bucket list of places to visit. Next up on my list would either be Italy, Brazil or Greece.

What is the best part about working at Vovia?

Everyone has been super welcoming and willing to help with whatever questions I may have. I’m really inspired by everyone’s level of expertise in their department and am eager to learn from them. I also appreciate the office fruit bowls and candy jars.
