Get to know… Stacey!

So how did you get into Marketing?

My first university experience was actually in Art History. Although that program promised a lucrative career (ha!), it just wasn’t for me. So, I switched programs and became super interested in Advertising and specifically media. The rest is history, as they say. Young-Stacey-SITE

Fast forward a bit, I now have over 25 year experience working at some of the country’s largest ad agencies and media companies. I have led large digital media teams and worked with big brands like Coca-cola, Hostess Frito-Lay, General Motors, and Chrysler Canada to name a few. I can say with confidence that I have worked with every media channel out there, from large scale Television buys to multifaceted digital campaigns; you name it!

So how did you find yourself at Vovia?

In 2005 my husband and I left Toronto and relocated to Calgary in search of a more comfortable life. Since being in Calgary, I have worked for a couple of full service agencies and I have also done some consulting, but something always seemed to be missing… I have been looking for a place for a long time that I could truly call home and I think that I have finally found it. The people at Vovia are insanely smart (and good-looking)! They know digital media inside and out and I am so proud to be part of this team.

What about you would people find surprising?

I have a full on family of fur babies! My husband and I are the proud parents (yes parents!) of 3 rescued cats and two dogs. One of our pups we even rescued from Mexico. Needless to say, we spend a great deal of time collecting fur and a great deal money on pet food and vet bills. We wouldn’t trade this for anything!

Vovia is a dog friendly workplace, and I just love it. One day I will bring my beasts in, though Chuck will likely be all over the place—chasing the other dogs, nosing around in everyone’s things, and basically disrupting the entire office… It’s going to be a fun day! Or… maybe my husband will just let me rescue a small dog to bring to the office every day! (He won’t… He’s no fun.)

What do you do for fun?

My (human) family is a family of artists. Art is a very important part of my life and it is just in the past few years that I have rediscovered pottery. It has always been in my blood and it is my true creative outlet. I operate a small studio and website out of my home called “SM Pottery“. Everything I do is handmade and you can often find me at local festivals peddling my wares. On evenings and weekends I can often be found either throwing a pot on the wheel, hand-building a vase, glazing a bowl, or opening the kiln with a look on my face like a kid on Christmas morning 🙂

So if you have a media question or are looking for a new mug for your desk, I am your gal!
