Get to Know… Emilie!
New month, new chance to learn more about a new Vovia team member! This month we have the pleasure of learning more about Emilie, an awesome addition to our client services team. Read to learn more about Emilie, her many non-work activities, and a tip on a new phone game you’ll want to download after reading this post.
What is your role at Vovia?
I’m an account manager at Vovia, which is like being a plate-spinner with a circus. Instead of plates, though, I juggle client relationships, deadlines, and unexpected crises (few and far between, knock on wood). I’m always ready with a smile and a solution, even if behind-the-scenes, I’m duct-taping it all together.
What do you do in your spare time?
For the most part, I try to keep my “spare” time at a minimum, keeping myself busy in and out of work. In my non-work hours, however, I adjust my sporty activities to the weather (summer time: lots of cycling and running, and general outdoor time), and then try to pepper in some extras – camping, playing piano, volunteering, patios, working on my French and German. I also try to keep a few books on the go, and have been re-watching House of the Dragon in prep for the new season.
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise people.
I am low-key obsessed with Gardenscapes, which is a little phone game. I’m at level [3342] as of writing this and I have dedicated “Gardenscapes Time” during my day, where I turn my brain off and match little fruits and flowers.
What do you love/what are you most passionate about?
I think passions change and evolve with us. Something I’m really passionate about right now (and have been for the past five-ish years, ongoing obsession) is aerial arts. I started in silks back in 2018-2019 and have progressed through to rope, at Green Fools in Calgary and now I’m deep into trapeze and hoop (lyra) at Vocab. I love figuring out alternate ways to learn and move my body and aerials have been incredibly rewarding at this, forcing me out of my comfort zone, and making me chief callus.
What is the best part about working at Vovia?
The people! As a true-true extrovert, I love being around people all the time and I’m super grateful that Vovia has an office filled with lovely, intelligent humans that I get to spend every day with. And, I live to commute via bicycle. I like walking too but commuter cycling is my true love, and I relish every opportunity I get to scoot to the office on my lil’ steel frame, and the fact that working at Vovia gives me a chance to commute.
