Get to Know…Amanda
What is your role at Vovia?
As a Paid Search and Paid Social Specialist I spend my time planning, executing and optimizing campaigns towards driving client’s marketing and business goals.
What do you do in your spare time?
Spare time? What is “spare” time?! Does being an adult count? But seriously, I am a part-time plant momma by day (trying to keep my plant babies alive) and a pseudo-foodie by night. I try to get home by midnight before my chariot turns into a pumpkin.
Right now i’m parenting an orchid and a bamboo plant. I get excited whenever I see new flowers blossoms or new leaves grow. I like trying different kinds of cuisine but my top favourites are Japanese, Korean, Indian, Persian and Chinese. The Calcutta Cricket Club, right here on 17th Avenue, is my go-to place for Indian when I miss food from home (Calcutta / Kolkata).
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise people.
I can speak four languages – English, Cantonese, Hindi and Bengali. I owe this to my Chinese roots in Indian soil, born to Chinese parents in Kolkata, India. You could say I’m one of a kind!
What do you love/what are you most passionate about?
Family, painting, board games, watching the sun set, and exploring new places, cultures and cuisines. I am also passionate about helping less fortunate families in India through various non-profit organisations. I was involved in tutoring children from less privileged families and volunteered with organizations like the Hope Foundation. Another organisation I enjoyed being a part of was The Little Sisters of the Poor – Home for the Aged.
What is the best part about working at Vovia?
The Vovia family has been very welcoming in accepting new members and making them feel a part of their own. The Vovians are a bunch of experienced and knowledgeable professionals. They have a patient willingness to share their knowledge, which is what sets them apart from other agencies. Also, we have our four-legged friends to keep us company. What more can one ask for?
