Vovia Client Feature – OWN.CANCER

I have had the pleasure of working with the OWN.CANCER campaign, a partnership between the Alberta Cancer Foundation, University of Calgary and Alberta Health Services to raise $250 million in support of improved cancer research, treatment and care at the new Calgary Cancer Centre, due to open in 2023. Having recently been affected by cancer in my own family, the campaign has taken on an even bigger meaning for myself and I’m so proud to be a part of the journey to Own Cancer.

I recently had the opportunity to chat with the Alberta Cancer Foundation’s Director of Marketing, Breanne Kraus and Communications Manager, Mireille Farkouh to talk about the OWN.CANCER campaign and about the amazing things that the Calgary Cancer Centre aims to achieve! Read on to hear all about it.

Can you tell us a little bit about the new Calgary Cancer Centre

The Calgary Cancer Centre will be one of the largest comprehensive cancer centres in North America. By creating a single space for healthcare providers and researchers, we’ll be able to gather the right people with the right tools under one roof, which will allow us to dramatically transform how we treat cancer in Calgary.

How will donations from the OWN.CANCER campaign will help support the Cancer Centre?

The OWN.CANCER campaign is about taking the centre from great to world-class. With help from our community, we will be able to support innovative research and provide the very best treatment and care for Albertans. The campaign is raising $250 million to create an impact in five areas: decreasing cancer in the population, improving cancer treatment, improving the patient experience, improving cancer outcomes, and empowering the best and brightest health care teams.

The New Calgary Cancer Centre

Alberta Health Services, the University of Calgary and the Alberta Cancer Foundation already have a history of working together to do great things, and by partnering on this campaign with one common goal, we can have a big impact on how cancer is treated in our province, and around the world

How much has been raised so far?

We’ve made great progress since the campaign launched in fall 2021. To date, we have raised about $87 million, which is incredible, but we still have more work to do!

How would you describe the relationship between the OWN.CANCER campaign and Vovia?

I’d say the relationship between the OWN.CANCER campaign and Vovia is like a long-term friendship. There is a mutual respect there and always room for honesty about how we could be improving upon ourselves in the digital world – feedback we are eager to receive and put into action (with their help). We have a wonderful time working with Vovia, trust their work, and know they are always available for whatever we need.

If you could describe Vovia in one word, what would it be?

Agile – despite the ever-changing landscape online and the ebbs and flows of seasonality, Vovia is always on top of ensuring our digital ads are offering excellent conversion rates and they are never afraid to provide suggestions on how to improve things moving forward. A great partner to have!

Lastly, and most importantly, how can our readers contribute to the Calgary Cancer Centre?
