Get to Know…Wayne

We’ve celebrated a lot of Vovia workiversaries lately, so it’s time to shift our focus back to new team members! Today we introduce you to Wayne Cowan, our latest addition to the Digital Marketing Team. Wayne works remotely in Ontario, and comes with 20 years of experience in digital media. We sat him down to get to know him a little better.

What is your role at Vovia?

I was brought on to Vovia as a Director of Paid Media, based on the many years of experience and past agency work with paid media channels. I help clients acquire success through paid marketing channels. My extensive background across verticals over the years allow me to draw from my experiences to bring new approaches to our account teams, resulting in a win- win for clients and team members.

What do you do in your spare time?

In my spare time I enjoy traveling with my family (of course, when it’s safe to do so). I also like hanging out with my own office dogs (although I hear they may be too big for the Vovia office) and taking them for long walks / hikes. Finally, I enjoy trying new restaurants / pubs quite often to experience different foods from around the world.

We all know there is always room for more Vovia dogs on our team. Now, tell us something about yourself that would surprise people.

When I’m not working or hanging out with my family I dedicate a lot of my time to playing hockey, like a true Canadian. I play anywhere from three to four times a week, which even surprises me at times!

So you’re a hockey fan? Where do you play?

I play in a few 35+ year old leagues around my town and neighboring areas, I stopped for many years but was introduced back into it by a few friends as a “once a week” thing to do with the guys. Now I feel that if I went down to once a week, I would be missing out on a lot in terms of fitness, not to mention hanging out with the guys having a few laughs.

What do you love/what are you most passionate about?

Learning. Not just in the digital space but across all areas within your life, I find myself like a sponge for areas that I am interested in. I have a side interest in sound design and I’m very passionate about it, that project keeps me learning all the time.

What is the best part about working at Vovia?

Without a doubt it would be the people and culture. Vovia has a very talented team with great professional skills as well as interpersonal skills. It’s a very open and honest and healthy environment to be part of.

You’re one of many on our team with a passion for travel, where are your favourite spots to visit?

First choice always, New York, myself and my daughter have a weakness for Manhattan. My daughter loves shopping there and I love the options of restaurants and culture, there is always something to do in NY. I have been to many places in the US but I always look forward to getting back to NY.
