Get to Know… Rachel!

What is your role at Vovia?

I’m an Account Manager, which means I’m the main point of contact for my clients and that I work with them to help them achieve their goals. The role also includes project management, and allows me to work on some really cool campaigns with our awesome clients.

What’s the best part about your job? Rachel!

There are many aspects of my job that I like a lot, but finding solutions and driving awesome results for clients is definitely my favourite! I like bringing forward new and innovative ideas that fit the client’s goals, and love watching as those ideas drive real success for them. Another thing I love is the constant learning. Everyone here is so knowledgeable, and I love the culture of knowledge sharing here at Vovia. This is especially important because our team has unique and specialized focuses, so that knowledge sharing really helps us be the best we can be. Learning is a life-long process that shouldn’t end when you get that diploma, which makes this environment really wonderful for me. Lastly, I really like the relationship-building component. I enjoy getting to know my clients and coworker, and a strong relationship makes working together that much better.

How did you end up at Vovia?

I actually started out in the social sciences and got a BA in anthropology. Not wanting to pursue that further in grad school, I did a post-grad diploma in Public Relations. That included an internship and I landed a great opportunity at a growing digital agency in Calgary. I ended up staying for almost 3 years and transitioned from an intern to project management and client services on website and digital marketing projects. Eventually, I was ready to make a shift to more integrated media agency and found Vovia. I haven’t looked back since!

What do you like about Vovia?

The people and the support they provide at Vovia are my favourite thing about working here. Everyone is a part of a team, whether it’s within their specialty or on an account. They’re also just generally great people – we have a lot of fun and learn a tonne from each other.

What do you do when you are not working?

I try to keep active, which usually means running or more recently, boxing. Otherwise, I’m spending time with friends and family and travelling when I can.

My favourite movie is a Christmas classic; the original Die Hard! I could watch it over and over again and have memorized all the best lines. “Yippie-Ki-Yay…..”
