Jessica Evans
Jessica is a senior accounting professional with over 10 years of progressive experience in full-cycle accounting and finance. Originally wishing to pursue a career in medicine, she discovered her undying love of all things numerical in university and has never looked back. Jessica is a "get 'er done" kind of gal who values process, logic, and organization as well as her daily Starbucks.

What is your role at Vovia?
I am the Accounting Manager at Vovia. I handle all aspects of the accounting department from accounts receivable, accounts payable an
d payroll through to financial reporting, analysis, forecasting and cash management. In other words, I process and interpret numerical data in order to provide decision makers with quality information to make effective business decisions.
What’s the best part about your job?
That’s hard to say as there are so many things I enjoy about working at Vovia. I love the fact that my role allows me to be involved with the details, but also to see the big picture. Additionally, the culture at Vovia is amazing! I have never worked for a company before where everyone is so excited, energetic, and passionate about what they do. It is very easy to come to work each morning!
How did you end up at Vovia?
I was on maternity leave with my second child and knew it was time to find a new opportunity. I had worked with Susan at my previous job, and met with her to ask for a reference. Instead, she offered me a job! I took a few days to think about it, but really wanted to scream YES the second she offered it. A few weeks later, I started at Vovia and the rest, as they say, is history.
What do you do when you are not working?
I have a husband and two young sons so spending time with family is one of my top priorities. I am also working towards finishing an accounting degree at SAIT. In my spare time, I like to go for walks, read books, and host dinner parties.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
You mean other than the Accounting Manager at Vovia? I am exceptionally passionate about personal finance and developing healthy habits around spending and saving. I believe there is a lack of financial education in our country these days that is worsening over time and having a dramatic effect on our emotional and physical well-beings. I would love to develop a personal finance seminar that I could teach to junior and senior high school students in order to help them be more aware of the financial aspects of life.
