Get to Know… Jeremy!
What is your role at Vovia?
I am an Account Manager here at Vovia. My job is to act as the point of contact between clients and our talented team of specialists that pull the levers and work the gears behind the scenes making the magic happen. I assist clients with strategy development, budgeting, and managing campaigns, and also gather and provide the team at Vovia with what they need to get the job done efficiently and effectively.
What do you love about your job?
One of my favorite things about my job is getting to know the ins and outs of how different businesses and industries operate. No two clients are the same, and I love to work with the team at Vovia to find new and innovative ways to help each one be successful.
It has been said on this blog many times before, but the other thing I love about my job is having such an incredible team to work with. The team here at Vovia is a lot of fun to work with and every member of the team is very good at what they do. There is never a day that I don’t learn something new or hear about an innovative way to approach a challenge. It is really cool to be a part of such an innovative group.
What do you do when you are not working?
I love to ride and race bicycle! Specifically, I race in both road racing and cyclocross disciplines. I also just love to ride out in the foothills around Calgary and I get out every chance I get during our short riding season. I also really enjoy fixing bikes and you will find me in the garage keeping my bikes clean and tuned up if I’m not out riding. Aside from that, I like spending time outside with my kids, which also tends to turn into time on a bike as they love to ride as well.
I feel like I was born to ride, and one of my mom’s favourite stories from my childhood really helps to paint this picture as well. When I was 5 years old, before I could really pronounce “Ls”, I wobbled my broken bike home one evening with my knees and elbows totally skinned and bleeding. To my mother’s amazement, I wasn’t crying or complaining, but instead just had this goofy smile on my face. She asked me what happened, so I said to her, “You should have seen it! I jumped off the stairs in the alley and I was FWYING Mom!” That’s when she says that she knew I’d be on a bike in one way or another the rest of my life.
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise people
I am a total car nut! I have always been into cars and trucks and I have owned around 15 vehicles of all types over the years. I really like to follow the automotive industry and stay up to date with everything going on and the convergence of the automotive and technology industry that is happening right now is especially exciting to follow. My wife always jokes that I can tell the make and model of pretty much anything on the road along with some kind of (mostly) useless fact about it. We’ll see who’s laughing when she needs to know how much coolant a 2010 escalade takes!
