What is your role at Vovia?

As an Account Director, I work as a liaison between our clients and our Vovia team. I bring our client’s vision to our internal team of specialists, and after they work their magic I present and execute the plan bringing the two teams together!

What do you do in your spare time?

My downtime is not ‘down’ for very long. At the top of my list are my 4 adult children. Even though they are well on their way to finding their niche, they are always on my mind, and I’m always proud to brag about all of their accomplishments. We also have 2 four-legged children, who are more work than the 2-legged ones! But they talk back less, and don’t raid my fridge. My senior Border Collie and Bernadoodle puppy keep us on our toes, but we love it.

In 2015, a friend and I started a local charitable group. Chicks With Cheques brings together 100+ women every 4 months, each with a blank $100 cheque to listen to 3 local charities pitch their cause. The room thenvotes and the majority wins and walks out with $10,000 for their local charity in under an hour. After 4 years we are still going strong in Edmonton, bringing Chicks together to pool our money for local charities. I love the interaction with local Chicks and watching the good we do in the community.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise people.

My childhood favourites have turned into my adult addiction. I have a collection of animation sericels from Warner Bros, Hanna Barbara and Disney that make me smile each time walk through the door. I have statues and figurines from Mickey to Fred, Gossimer to Scooby Doo, but I think our prize possession would be a life size statue of Yoda in our living room.

What do you love/what are you most passionate about?

All my life my passion has been baseball. I played when I was young and coached my son as he grew up with St. Albert Baseball. Now, as my son has outgrown little league, he and I coach 12 year-old boys in the Pee Wee division. I love nothing more than sharing my passion with my boy, as we live it with the next generation. In addition to coaching I sit on the Board for St. Albert Baseball, bringing sponsors and my marketing experience to the team. Baseball has my heart, and it’s my break from reality for even a few hours.

What is the best part about working at Vovia?

Working at Vovia has opened my eyes to the digital world, and how effective and efficient marketing dollars can be focused to show real results for our clients. Our team is brilliant in their insights and knowledge of each platform, providing an opportunity for real life learning for our clients.
