Get to Know… Rohan!

What is your role at Vovia?

I am a Search Engine Specialist. My job involves many responsibilities, such as increasing awareness, or driving leads or sales for clients’ brands and/or products. I do this through strategic campaign design and targeting, which involves researching and predicting keywords terms and themes. At the end of the day, it’s all about helping clients maximize their marketing performance and reach their business goals.

How did you end up in SEM? 

Honestly, it kind of happened by chance. After graduating from college, I worked in the shipping industry (Import and Export) for roughly 4 years. Then, while I was enjoying a vacation in Goa, I got a call from a Digital Marketing company who was looking for new talent. I conducted some research about Digital Marketing, found it interesting, and decided to take the leap! The company trained me in SEM, and I found it quite enjoyable. Though it was a bit risky, I am very happy I made this decision and I have never looked back.

What do you love about your job?

It’s an exciting, fast paced environment. I learn new things about companies, businesses, markets, and more every day. With the ever-changing market scenario, I get to watch and plan for new trends and manage campaigns accordingly. Also with new features and technology constantly popping up, I am always excited to test new tactics and observe the impact on campaigns.

What do you do when you are not working?

I love sports, and have a great love for cricket. I practice every morning so that I am fit and in good form to play in the weekend tournaments. I love watching cricket as well, with the Indian cricket team being my favourite team. Besides cricket, I also like to just hit the gym and keep myself fit with jogging or light exercises.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise people.

I started working at a very early age. When I was young, I started working as a newspaper boy and also spent some time as a salesman in a boutique during my summer holidays. The boutique was really cool because I got to meet a lot of celebrities! While I was working for the shipping company after graduating, I was also teaching Taxation and Business Law to local students. I have worked across many sectors in my time!
