What is your role at Vovia?

I am a Search Engine Marketing (SEM) Specialist who loves to handle PPC campaigns across a variety of different Publishers (Google, Bing, Facebook). Put plainly, I utilize the marketing budgets of my clients to maximize ROI across various digital platforms.

Why Did You Choose Online Marketing? 

I actually have a degree (with distinction) in Pharmacy; however, during university I realized that I didn’t want to spend my days working in the lab with those foul-smelling chemicals, cutting up frogs, and dissecting guinea pigs… That life was just not for me. So, I decided to pursue an MBA in Marketing instead of the Masters in Pharmacy as business and marketing had always interested me. After completing an online marketing internship, I knew that I had made the right decision and I have never looked back! Now that I am fully immersed in the digital world, I just love it more and more each day.

But Why PPC???

PPC marketing is the most effective means of generating immediate traffic to your website. It’s one of the few forms of marketing where I can show you exactly what your budget is doing for you. Need I say more?

What you love the most about your job? 

I love everything about my job from doing the research, to campaign setup, to optimization and analysis. The best part, every job and every client is totally unique! I constantly get to do different things in different ways, which always keeps it fresh. The staff here at Vovia are also a blast to work with. I get to laugh and learn every single day. Apart from my daily tasks, I also love Mila, our office dog! She’s just so cute and fun and makes for a great stress buster.

What is the most challenging part of your role?

Thinking, thinking, and thinking… Umm, yeah—that’s the most challenging part. Thinking and ideation! My job requires a lot of research and involves a process of deep thought and careful planning to achieve my client’s objectives. Aiming for perfection and a success rate of 100% also applies the pressure.

 Why did you decide to move to Calgary?

I would never have considered moving to Calgary even just a few years back. No offence, but moving from a climate of +30° to one that sees -30° was unfathomable at that point in time. But then it happened… I found my soul mate who (tricked me) into moving all the way from India to Canada. It was not easy to leave my home country, my family, and my friends, but I believe that “moving on” is the mantra of life.

It’s been just a few months in Calgary and I am loving each and every minute of it. I’m still not so thrilled about the temperature, but summer is coming up quickly and Calgary has a close proximity to the glorious nature and wildlife of the mountains. Life is good 🙂

What do you do in your free time?

As I have just recently moved to this beautiful city, I am still very much exploring Calgary and nearby areas. I love to go on long drives, and indulge in different delicacies. There is just so much to see and do around here that things never get dull.

I also like playing sports like badminton, and table tennis and I am really excited to learn how to ski next winter! I’m also one heck of a movie buff and love to watch Bollywood movies with my dear hubby. I would love if you joined me for one of the Bollywood Masala movies; I’ll even supply the popcorn!
