Get to Know… Nilesh!

What is your role at Vovia?

I am a Search Engine Marketing Specialist, which basically means I get to spend our client’s money on whatever I feel like!

(Just Kidding) As SEM experts, we get to aid in strategy development and execute the paid media campaigns for our clients to help them reach their business goals.

How did you end up in SEM?

It was completely by chance if you can believe it. I actually have a degree in Engineering – Printing and Packaging, but I did not want to pack boxes for the rest of my life. Thankfully, I was recruited by a Digital Marketing firm through the campus recruitment program. During the interview, I was asked to ‘sell’ them normal items that were on the table, and I must have convinced them because they hired me. I instantly realized that marketing was my calling, and haven’t looked back since!

What do you like about Vovia?

The people! I am currently working remotely from India while waiting for my immigration papers to get approved, but even from a distance it’s easy to see how amazing and extremely bright the team is. It’s an honour being a part of a team that is always looking for new ways to innovate and then translating those new developments and ad products into more successes for our clients. Also, I have heard A LOT about the candy, beers, and office dogs and cannot wait to join the team in Calgary!

What do you love about your job?

The best part is that you get to work with many different clients in various industries, which gives you the opportunity to keep learning every day. I think constant learning is an important part of professional development and growth, which is another reason that this job is so perfect for me. Also, Google and Facebook have a habit of introducing new products regularly, which means there is never a dull day.

What do you do when you are not working?

I love watching football (or Soccer) and am a very big fan of the Chelsea Football Club. I think the only time I have ever cried as an adult was when they won the European Championship. It is a dream of mine to catch this team live one day!

I am also a foodie and love to eat! There’s nothing I won’t try at least at least once and I find still find a great sense of adventure when indulging in new or novel cuisine.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise people.

While in college, I finished watching 7 seasons of South park within a week. That’s basically how I caught up on current events that week and wow’d my friends with my international knowledge. Uncanny endurance of over the top humour is my superpower! This plays well with my love of food, and you can often find me binge watching television shows and snacking throughout the night.
