What is your role at Vovia?

I am a Search Engine Marketing Specialist; basically I do online paid advertising for businesses in Google AdWords and Google Express. My role consists of customizing and implementing advertising tactics for each of our clients at Vovia.

Why do you like online marketing so much?

The reason I love online marketing is because we can measure the true impact and overall performance of our Google AdWords campaigns. It’s much more difficult to measure the real impact of traditional marketing such as TV commercials, radio, banners, print advertising, and other mediums of traditional media. It’s pretty exciting to think about how much technology has changed in the last 10 years.

I just love how online marketing works with analytics packages to provide data reflecting online search behaviours of consumers around the globe. The competitive advantage of online advertising is the opportunity companies have to get immediate results and fine tune their strategies accordingly.  It’s all about understanding the online trends that influence our customers in order to determine the needs and wants before planning a marketing strategy!

Why did you decide to work in the digital industry?

Since I was a child, I would rather play on a computer than with toys. I have a strong appreciation for this new digital era that is so dynamic. I love how technology facilitates our lives and allows us to multitask and be more productive as it is evolving every day.

Where are you originally from?

I was born in El Salvador. It is a small and beautiful country in the Pacific Ocean Coast where we speak Spanish. We also have great volcanos, mountains and the best malls within Central America. We only have two seasons (summer and winter), and the beach was only 40 minutes away from my house!

Why did you decide to come to Canada?

Because I came to pursue my post-secondary education, I wanted to see new horizons and expose myself to a new environment and culture. I love travelling and Canada is one of the countries with one of the best standards of living in the world!

What is your next goal for the next year?

I want to learn Italian or French because then my travelling will be more fun and I’ll be able to order all types of cheese because I am a cheese addict!!
