Andrea is an Account Director at Vovia. Nothing brings her more joy than seeing a project through from planning to execution to results. When she's not sending emails or creating work back schedules you can find her on the trails or on the pavement wearing out her running shoes.

Get to Know… Andrea!

What is your role at Vovia?

I have the pleasure of being an Account Manager at Vovia. Coming from a design agency, I was really intrigued by the opportunity to know more about the digital world along with the ins and outs of media buying. Vovia did not disappoint! My mind was blown before noon on day one by how powerful online advertising is, and how smart the team at Vovia is at dissecting all of the information available to help clients  achieve their goals.Get to know Andrea!

We hear you’re based in Edmonton. Are you a born and raised Edmontonian?

I’m not actually! I was just a small town girl (livin’ in a lonely world), when I moved to Edmonton just over 12 years ago. Since then, I’ve gotten to know and love this city and I appreciate that Vovia finds the right people for the right job no matter where they are located. Just another way that they prove the power of the digital world and how it helps to keep us connected.

What do you do in your free time?

I have a habit of making sure I have as little free time as possible. I spend my summers running, biking, hiking/backpacking, camping, fishing, golfing and going to football games (go Esks, go!). I started to get bored in the winter because I am terrified of downhill skiing and snowboarding, so I started running outdoors, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. A person has to find a way to spend their time with our lengthy Alberta winters.

What’s something about you that might surprise people?

All of my running and training is actually me preparing for the zombie apocalypse!

Wait… what? Zombie apocalypse?

One can never be too careful… Some of my other hobbies will also come in handy if this ever comes to pass. From jams and pickles, to loaves of bread and cookies, I like to try my hand at baking and preserving anything and everything. I’m not always successful, but it’s fun. My ideal life is to have an acreage with a huge garden, a few chickens, and a cellar of preserves. Now tell me that wouldn’t be helpful if anything should happen!

Apocalypse aside, any big runs coming up?

Ending on an easy note! I’m aiming to run my first 50k in September up Mount Robson. So that’s it for the near future. I can get a little crazy with races, so this year I’m changing things up and staying focused on one race. If I survive, the Death Race in Grand Cache (125k) may be next in 2018!
